The Kenyan Tote Bag pattern is a great carry-all for your sewing projects and is big enough for your needle roll, yarn supplies and knitting projects. Finished size is 21" x 14".
Materials Needed: (Some felted wool is used for this project)
- 3/4 yd brown floral upholstery fabric for back and straps
- 1 1/2 yd coordinating upholstery fabric for lining, pockets, and cover for baseboard
- 1 yd thin cotton batting
- Fat 1/8 Sue's green wool for applique block and back pocket accent
- Fat 1/4 brown bittersweet wool for base, front accent, flower, and stem applique
- Fat 1/8 textured aqua wool cut (6 x 22 1/2") for front accent strips
- Nine 3" x 11" pieces for pieced blocks on front and back. Choose a combination of coordinating wool, silk, upholstery, and velvet fabrics
- Scraps of cotton, velvet and wool in red, orange, brown, and blue for the applique block
- 1/8 yd coordinating fabric for binding
- #11 straw needles
- #24 Chenille needles
- Antique buttons and rick-rack for embellishments
- 1/4" thick piece of wood for baseboard measuring 14 1/2" x 5 1/2"
- Optional leather straps and closure
