Kiddie backpack pattern with dimensional animal face appliques and bead accents by Heart to Hand.

Materials Needed:

• Chenille fabric for flap
• Cotton fabric or muslin for flap lining
• 1/2 yd jumbo rickrack for flap trim
• Felt or well fabric scraps for appliques
• 11" x 20 1/2" quilt scrap (or medium-heavy weight fabric, or make & quilt 2 of your favorite 12" quilt blocks
• Scraps of fabric for backpack bottom (can be quilt scrap but since the bottom gets more wear, we used a matching heavy weight fabric)
• 1/3 yd cotton fabric for lining
• 1 yd thin cording for drawstring
• 2 yds 1" wide strapping (3 for adult purse)
• Embroidery floss
• Plastic cord lock
• Pair of strap adjusters for 1" strap (like you would find on backpacks)
• 2 metal eyelets (large enough for drawstring to go through)
• Glass beads for drawstring - bear or kitty head plus misc. small beads
