This simple pattern makes an easy unlined zippered pocket.
Zippered pockets and have always given me fits and I felt the
verbage was hard to follow in regular purse patterns. The results
of experimenting are listed below in detailed instructions. Also,
if you want your zippered pocket lined, that feature is also included
as a "tip". I will be adding more "how to's" in the future and
will also be adding my own designs for purse patterns specifically
for novice/beginners, complete with handles.

TIP: For more stability in your zippered pocket,
double the fabric (i.e. instead of cutting one piece 9"
x 18" cut 2 and sew them together.
|
TIP: If you want a lining for your zippered pocket, cut an
additional piece of fabric and sew them RIGHT SIDES together.
Leave a small opening at the bottom (1") and turn your fabric
so that is right side out. Finish sewing the small opening that
you left and continue with the instructions.
TIP: I know what your Mother told you but, in sewing projects, your
iron is your friend - use it often to press seams and fabrics after
you turn them right side out. |
